With the holidays coming just around the corner, every sales manager is wondering how to keep their sales reps focused and engaged in order to put a solid close on FY 15. While the holidays can be a perfect time for closing deals, it is also the time of year that requires the most focus and determination. So, what are some ways to boost engagement and celebrate your sales reps for a great year?

1)    Christmas Sales Competitions

Christmas is the perfect time of year to implement some new sales competitions. Everyone is in a festive mood, there’s a spirit of fun and cheer in the air, and the little extra bit of motivation has the potential to land incredible results.

We’ve taken one of our favorite contests, similar to the popular “White Elephant” Christmas party game and turned it into a digital competition. When a sales rep completes a sales activity such as booking a meeting, sending an offer, or closing a deal, they get to open a gift. If they already have a gift, they can either open a new gift or steal one from a co-worker. As you can imagine, this makes the holidays at the office a LOT of fun.

2)    Provide More Incentive to Customers

I know what you’re thinking: “But wait, I though this was about engaging my sales reps, not about customers.” Well, there is no better way to incentivize your sales reps than by providing them with some fantastic value to offer to customers and potential new clients during the holiday season.

‘Tis the season for giving, right? This time of year provides an incredible opportunity for those companies who understand their value proposition and can leverage it to drive new customers and traffic with incredible deals. For instance, if you have a SaaS product maybe offer the first month of your software free or give some type of incentive rewards to your valued customers. This makes it easy for your sales reps to pass along the holiday cheer and gives them a little extra encouragement to look into the referrals list again with some new offers on hand.

3)    Celebrate Your Sales Teams

The end of the year is a great time to celebrate and recognize the amazing work that your sales reps have put in this year. Receiving acknowledgement is one of the most positive and rewarding aspects of your sales reps’ career; so, be sure to let them know you still remember and appreciate their efforts. Company parties are one way to do this but there are plenty of ways to add a more personal touch. Think beyond just cash. Perhaps you could create some fun team-building events with funny themes. You can even include your clients if you would like to. No matter what you choose, keep the focus on holiday cheer.

4)    Reward with Cash

At the end of the day, the people who work for you day in and day out are all trying to achieve the same thing: provide a little extra for the ones they love. During the holidays many folks are strapped for cash and wondering how they can afford the long Christmas wishlist so they don’t disappoint their loved ones.

Whether it’s increasing the commission percentage just a bit, making payouts quicker, or incentivizing with some extra cash, this is a surefire way to boost morale and engagement in the office. If you have any doubts, ask your employees and see what’s on their minds. Are there some gifts they’ve been saving for? Is there something you can do to make this time of year extra special for them? Pay it forward by giving them a little extra opportunity to bring smiles to the ones they love.

5)    Decorate the Office

Turn on the holiday tunes, brew some warm coca, hang some stockings, hand out candy canes, share favorite Christmas stories, put a big Frosty the Snowman in the corner of the office, wrap the chairs in giftwrap, put bows on the windows, and bring your teams together.

Combine some of the above tips with a festive office full of holiday cheer and you’re guaranteed to see more engaged and motivated reps bringing in better results. The holidays are the most amazing and wonderful time of year; why waste the fun? :D
